I’ve found a slight new obsession to waste time with online. It’s called Photosynth. It’s a new project hailing from Microsoft Live Labs but I don’t think many people have heard of it yet. If you have, it may be because of the CNN Obama inauguration day. That day, CNN’s iReport took all of the photos from the inauguration that fans uploaded and created a Photosynth. Check it out, it’s really cool. As the Obama one shows, the synths can be collaborative, but they can also be created flying solo. As many of the examples in the website’s gallery showcase, this is a great way to make your photo pictures dynamic and function more like a virtual tour of a place. Check out this one of San Marco’s Square. For those of us that take hundreds of photos of what seams like the same thing but at a slightly different angle…this is the perfect way to spruce up the excitement of showing them! As soon as I make my first one, I’ll post it here :). The skinny is that Photosynth is perfect for travel photos!
